Nashville legend, Marijohn Wilkin has been been covered by a host of esteemed artists : ‘The Long Black Veil’, written for Lefty Frizzell, was covered by the Kingston Trio, Johnny Cash, Joan Baez, The Band and Mick Jagger with The Chieftains. Eddie Cochran also recorded ‘Cut Across Shorty’ (recorded twice since by Rod Stewart) and ‘PT 109’ was a US smash in 1962 for Jimmy Dean.

Under the Buckhorn moniker, Wilkin provided the first hit ‘G.T.O.’ for Ronny and the Daytonas, as well as signing the then-unknown Kris Kristofferson. Together Wilkin and Kristofferson penned ‘One Day at a Time’, originally recorded by Marilyn Sellars and providing a UK number one for Lena Martell in 1979. The track was also a number one country hit for Christy Lane in 1980 and is one of the Valentine catalogue’s real gems.
